Millie's hairy gift

WHEN Alopecia Foundation ambassador Stephanie Rice spoke about the condition on TV, 11-year-old Millie Stevens decided she had to do something about it.

That was in April last year and now her hair has grown the required minimum 30cm to make a wig, she lopped off the pigtails.

“The hair is donated to the Princess Charlotte Alopecia Foundation and they on-sell it to wig makers,” proud mum Monique said.

But Millie didn't lose her locks quietly sitting in a chair at the hairdressers. Instead, she sat in front of the whole Mary Help of Christians Primary School while family friend and qualified hairdresser Kelly Turner ‘did the deed'.

The young blonde was a real trooper. Shaking slightly – more from the cold than nerves – she sat quietly as Kelly snipped away at the pigtails.
