ALOPECIA AWARENESS WEEK

Author: Date: 21/09/2009 11:40:22 AM

Monday 28th September to Sunday 4th October 2009

It is with great excitement that the Princess Charlotte Alopecia Foundation announces it’s first annual Alopecia Awareness Week.

The aim of this week is to raise awareness of Alopecia, and to encourage the donation of hair by men, women and children through Tresses for Princesses, a very important arm of the foundation.

Stephanie Rice, our amazing ambassador, has given her valuable time over this week and we need your support and attendance at the main activities day on Thursday 1st October.

This day starts at 9 am with a walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Anzac Bridge, then onto Victoria Road finishing at Homebush Aquatic Centre Homebush Bay.

Those walking include:

Stephanie Rice
Darryl Brohman
Wayne Pierce
Paul Sironen
Gordon Tallis
Paul “Nobby” Clarke
Matthew Adamson

During this walk our new banner will be launched – a mobile billboard – show casing Stephanie Rice with some of our Bald but Beautiful alopecia sufferers.

Commencing at 4 pm that afternoon at the Homebush Aquatic Centre, there will be a CELEBRITY SWIMMING RACE including our special celebrities and anyone who would like to join in the fun.

The entrance is by gold coin donation, so please come and support the foundation. Tell all your friends at school, notify your local swimming clubs bring all your family and friends and let’s fill the Aquatic Centre with the sounds of laughter and great cheering for those trying to race our ambassador Stephanie and all the “aging football” stars.

Stephanie will also be cutting hair for Tresses For Princesses. All hair donations are used in the making of human hair wigs. There is a worldwide shortage of hair at present, and we encourage everyone to grow his or her hair and donate it to the foundation.

We must thank the many people who help organise such a massive event and these include:
ACTION SPORTS, especially Amin and his staff for their wonderful support.
The FLYING FISH RESTAURANT at Pyrmont for their support.
WATERSHED WINES an ongoing sponsor - thank you Paul Clarke and Mick Farrer.

We ask you please to come along to this event, and give us your support and encouragement. It is only through action that the story of alopecia will get out to the general public, and then perhaps to the politicians.
