A perfect summers day heralded our annual Christmas party at Lane Cove River Park.

The committee were up early preparing the food and transporting everything to Carters Creek, site 9 at the park for the 10.30am start.

It was great to see so many friendly faces arrive on the morning including some new faces from as far away as South Australia, Wagga Wagga Wollongong and Newcastle.

It didn’t take long for the kids to start playing, exploring the bush, welding the cricket bat and generally having a great time. Head and face painting were a great hit with Martine in her element as chief artist and organiser of this very popular activity. Hats and wigs were removed, and colour, glitter and stars adorned the beautiful heads of those without hair.

Matt and his team of dads took over the B-B-Q duties, and soon we were all enjoying a delicious meal.

Santa made an unexpected visit to our site, and surprised the kids with gifts and lollies. This was indeed a special treat for us, and we hope that Santa made it home to the North Pole in time for his big trip back to our homes on Christmas Eve.
