I have been lobbying the Federal Government for over 18 months in order to get the GST removed from wigs.
As you may or may not know all wigs attract GST, even medical wigs, which is grossly unfair. As this is 10% of every wig, it makes a significant difference to the price. All other medical prostheses (and we class a medical wig as a prosthesis) are GST free.
I have included one of my letters to the Prime Minister Mr Rudd MP, and I am hoping that you can download the letter, add your own name and address, and where appropriate your own or your children’s length of time having alopecia.

There is also a second address, a lady in the Office of the Treasurer, where the decisions re GST are made. Please also send a copy of the letter to this person or address it to the Treasurer Wayne Swan MP.
The more letters the government receive, the more chance we have of some action.
